We are Cycle Ayrshire, part of Cycling UK and are Ayrshire's largest cycling club with a well established, all-year programme of rides varying from 15 to 75 miles.

With the emphasis on sociable leisure cycling we are always glad to welcome new faces on our rides - and you don't have to sign-up immediately.

You can participate in up to 3 rides after which, due to insurance requirements, we would expect you to join Cycling UK if you wished to continue riding with us.

This should be enough to allow you to sample the range of rides to find the one that suits your cycling aspirations - and ability.

2019 Challenge & Tri-Vets Rides

There are no first or last – just achievers in our Cycling UK Challenge and Tri-Vets rides¹.
This year we invite you join us on the Ayrshire Big Yin or Ayrshire Wee Yin, starting in Troon on Sunday 9th June 2019.
They take you on a 100 mile or 100km tour on rural roads through the rolling countryside once home to Robert Burns, Scotland´s national poet.
With generous time limits and consisting of 2 or 3 signed loops returning to Troon for free refreshments, they are ideal for both first timers and seasoned long-distance cyclists.

All finishers who registered online receive Cycling UK Challenge Ride medals, certificates and goody bags.
Plus, those aged 50 and over will be given a Cycling UK Triennial Veterans certificate and be able to purchase a Tri-Vets badge and/or date bar in recognition of their achievement.

  • Signed loops (plus maps, route sheets and GPX files).
  • Free feed stations.
  • Generous time limits (100 mile - 12 hours, 100km - 11 hours).
  • Medals, certificates and goody bags for all finishers who registered online.
  • Electric bikes welcome.
  • Open to all.

Entry: Online and on-the-day.
£15 - 100 mile Ayrshire Big Yin.
£12 - 100km Ayrshire Wee Yin.

¹The rides are part of the non-competitive Cycling UK Challenge Ride and Tri-Vets series so we do not record finishing times or places.
Tri-Vets are long distance cycle rides for people aged 50 and over.
They have been organised since Cycling UK´s 50th anniversary in 1928 and take place every three years - hence the official title, the Triennial Veterans´ Rides.
